This homemade hamburger helper takes just 30 minutes to prepare making it ideal for busy weeknight dinners when time is running short!

Ever had one of those evenings when you're juggling homework help, household chores, and dinner prep all at once? I've been there! That's why I'm excited to share my family's favorite one-pot wonder that's better than anything from a box.
Why You'll Love This Recipe
One pot = minimal cleanup 🙌
Ready in under 30 minutes
Kid-approved flavors
No artificial ingredients
Ingredients:
1 pound extra lean ground beef
1/2 medium onion chopped
2 heaping tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
3 cups beef broth
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
2 cups freshly grated cheddar cheese
Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions:
Add the beef and onions to a soup pot. Cook over medium-high heat until the beef has browned (about 7-10 minutes), breaking the meat up with your spoon as you go along.
Stir in the tomato paste, garlic powder, and chili powder.
Add in the beef broth and increase the heat to high. Once it starts boiling, add in the macaroni.
Reduce to a simmer, for me that was medium heat. Let it cook uncovered until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed (about 13-15 minutes). Stirring every few minutes.
While it's cooking, grate the cheese.
Take the pot off the heat and stir in the cheese. Season with salt & pepper to taste. I like to let it sit for a couple minutes before serving but you can serve it right away.
